New DVD

For those who have followed my blogs and follow me on twitter will be aware that when I can't sleep I always seem turn to the DVD "Fight Club".

I've watched it so many times that I am nearly at the stage where I can tell you what colour shirt the actors and extras are wearing in each scene. But the other day I was just aimlessly looking around in Sanity (for those who don't know, Sanity is a DVD and music store, some of their prices are a bit on the heavy side.) While I was in there I came across "Oliver Stone's Wall Street DVD pack", it has both the original 1987 "Wall Street" and "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" the 2010 sequel.

I rented "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" recently . It was good but being a Shia LaBeouf fan I expected more from it. It had been awhile since I had seen the original and decided to buy it. Seeing as it had been some time since seeing the original I wasn't to sure if I would still enjoy it.
I like it better than the sequel. I've always been a Charlie Sheen fan and watching reminds you of why he is a great actor, seems like we need some reminding of late seeing as he has been acting a bit crazy. But I think it is safe to say this movie has, if not nearly, replaced "Fight Club" as my go-to-movie when I can't sleep.

For those who have never seen either of these movies, I suggest you do. Especially the original, which showcases the age story of being a nobody to wanting to get, as well as being hungry for, the best out of life. I think watching this movie so many times in a short period of time may or may not be responsible for my latest  infactuation with money. Don't get me wrong here, I have always loved money- after all it is why we go to work- to get paid. I'll tell you know I'm not working for the fun of it.

Greed is good

When people mention the word 'greed' or say that someone is 'greedy' they are usually associating it with money.

Which usually is the case, but money isn't the only thing that people are greedy with. People say money isn't everything- and it isn't. But either is everything else in this world. If anything comes in any quantity chances are people want more than what is needed.

Love. There are people out there that are greedy and want more than what they need. Let me break it down: Those who say money isn't everything usually want lots of love, now this seems all nice and cute on the surface but being greedy with love is just as dangerous. People's marriages break down and fall apart because one or both involved are having an affair, longing for someone else. Even if they are in a happy marriage they go out and look for more. They are greedy with affection, that feeling of being wanted and that feeling of being needed. Then when it all comes unraveled they go to sex addiction class or marriage counseling sessions.

Not to mention other materialistic items that we all want, buy and collect. Sure, money is what was used to attain it but it's the love of those things that make you want them. Look at the shopaholics who go out and buy clothes that they'll most likely only wear once, buy the latest electrical appliances because it is now available in a new colour and have five rare cars parked in the drive way.

Look at collectors. They collect a specific type of something. Art collectors, Music collectors, Movie collections dedicated to movie memorabilia. Nothing wrong with shopping, but when it becomes a problem they wind up in a shopping addiction class that helps them identify why they impulse buy.

There seems to be an "out" for every greed/addiction. Shopping, sex, drug  addiction offer rehab classes, clinics and classes to help fix the problem. What about greed of money? Nothing is offered there like the other greed facilities provided, addiction is tied in with greed.

I'm writing this blog because I recently made a video asking what would people choose, love or money [their dream career]. So far most have picked love. Some have a even taken time out of their day to send me private messaged calling me selfish, money hungry and claiming that I am greedy.

I've got a news flash for you, kid: We are all greedy, Every single one of us.

We are greedy for attention. Greedy for power. Greedy for popularity. Greedy for food, for drinks, holidays, cars, houses with the latest flat screen T.Vs.  Greedy for love, affection, a sense of belonging, a sense of being wanted and needed.

Point is that greedy isn't strictly speaking about money. It's about everything in this world. Shopaholics, Alcoholics, collectors and lovers all go out to get more of what they already have.

Love vs Career

Hypothetically, if you had to choose between falling in love or working in your dream career, which one would you pick?

Personally, I think I would pick career.

Some might ask: What is the point of success if you have nobody to share it with?
Which is a valid question, I admit. To which I would reply: What is the point of being in love when you have nothing to share with them?

This whole situation is a catch 22. So obviously there is no answer that is right or wrong, cut and dry.
You can't survive off love and good intentions alone, you are going to need money. What is the point of being in love when you can't take your partner out to a nice restaurant, buy a place of your own and  start up and support your own family?

The again, what is the point of success when you don't have anybody to share it with?
I don't know. Maybe I am coming off as too much as somebody who is money hungry and anti-love but that isn't the case. We need money to pay my bills and put it towards things we want to do. I don't see the bank being understanding when I go in there and pay off money I owe with a love note from a sweet heart.

I asked this question on my twitter account and I seem to have given off the impression that I am asking people to choice between love and being rich. Now, I'm not saying I'd choose career so then I earn millions of dollars and live in a huge house with five luxury cars in the drive way, although that would be nice.

What I am saying is that I think I'd choose my dream career. If I was to end up making millions of dollars from it that would be great but honestly knowing that I could go wake up each morning and do something that I am so passionate about and make a some sort of living out of it- I'd grab that chance.

"Where you been?"

Whaddup, Peep game?
Hope you are all doing well.

So a few people have been messaging and asking me "Why are you a champion?" "Do you find it difficult being so looked up to?" and "Why do you like The Kardashians so much?" but the question that is the reason for this post is "Where are the new videos are for OnlyAPhase and YLDFRA ?"

Well the answer is simple- They're not done yet.

But to be fair most of you wouldn't have noticed that nothing new hasn't been uploaded if it wasn't for this post. God, You're just so self absorbed
The last few weeks I haven't uploaded any videos to my channels. In fact I haven't had time to film anything. Work has been busy with split shifts so I have limited time had any time to edit anything or film anything to edit.

I am really annoyed about that because for awhile there I was on a roll and was putting out new videos each week. To make up for it, when I have time I might have to film two videos for two weeks to make up for my lack of uploads.

I have filmed half of a new video which is 90% complete, just need my brother for the other 10% of  filming then I'll edit and upload the video. Then you can be in shock and awe by my brilliance. Either that or you'll just sit there thinking "What is this shit?"

Just want to take the time to say I genuinely appreciate all the views, the favourites, thumbs up, the comments and tweet conversations I have with you all. If you have any constructive criticism I would love to hear it. After all it is you who watch the videos.

So hopefully I'll be back in action soon.
Back with a vengeance and lamer than ever.

Build your empire.

I am currently watching "The Social Network" as I am typing this.

I'm not sure what to write in this, or what I expect you to get from this blog but here we are.

Mark Zuckerberg, this kid is a genius. We need more people with this kind of vision, drive and devotion to the Internet. He took the basic idea of a directory that was designed for college students at their particular colleges, then changed the game allowing us to use it to reconnect with old friends, make new ones and see what our current ones are doing.

In this day in age everything is going digital. You might say this is obvious and be asking why am I pointing it out, the answer is because I want to point out it is easier to start up an electronic and virtual empire than it is with any other form of media.

Everything is going digital these days. Everything.
Back in the 1980's rappers and hiphop artists showcased their talents on tape cassettes. They either sold them for next to nothing or just gave them away to gain a following. This would cost money and time. But now, it's all digital.

You can make a mix tape for next to nothing and then upload it to the internet for people to download for free. Even if you charged 50 cents per album download, it's pure profit. You're saving money on cutting the CD's, on promoters and your time. You just create it, upload it and then let the link get word of mouth. Everything is going virtual and viral. The internet is a wonderful tool.

Take people who use youtube for example. Here are people that before youtube may never have been seen and their talent noticed. Television executives might have thrown people out of idea pitching meetings for coming up with something so stupid, but now the internet is turning people in to stars. Rather than producing a video or short film then cutting a certain amount of copies to T.V networks, you can simple refer them to your youtube channel or website. There and then they can see how many views you have gotten, what the targeted audience is and which parts of the world it's being viewed. All this data that would of taken weeks, months or even years to gather is now at your finger tips allowing us to know what is working and drawing more people in.

Regardless how naive and ambitious this might sound, I want to build an empire. It seems like a virtual empire is the way to go. I'm ambitious and want to be an entrepreneur. "Entrepreneur" used to be a dirty word, now it is what champions are made of. Things that would take ages to progress can now take moments. Videos, websites, blogs can be uploaded and bounce around the net and get more hits in an hour than what it could from standard print media.

Twitter allows me to connect to people who enjoy my videos. Allows me to share my thoughts, what I'm feeling- and most importantly it allows me to see theirs.  I can learn what is working, what they want more or less of.

Making independent films to get notice is now easier and more effective than ever thanks to the internet. The only funds you would need to produce your film would be for props, talent (actors as well as lighting/camera crew + equipment) and locations. After it's filmed and crisply edited, that's where your spending stops and your popularity begins. You throw your short film up the internet with links to your website and allow people to either download it (be it for free or a small fee) or stream it straight from your website. It allows you to get notoriety and get people to see your work. It'd be for filmmakers what mix-tapes and demo tapes are for recording artists.

Find something you love, harness it and channel it through the internet. The internet is the way to achieve what you want. Do as I do and dream to build your own empire. It is better to create a job then to find one. Fluidity is the key.

Real mature.

I have to be up at 4am for a big day, it is currently 11:08pm and I am not the slightest bit tired.
So what better way to help pass the time than to write a blog about my current random thoughts that nobody seems to be reading. At least I can be as blunt as I want, I guess.

This might seem obvious to you but I have recently discovered that the older we all get, the more respect, more attention, more "status" we want to get. To get these things you need to be mature. Not act like some school-yard bitch playing a game of whispers about someone and then act like their best friend when they're around.

Fuck that shit, man!
In this world, nothing is given. You want it, you get it. Want to own nice things? Work for it. As it is said: Spoon feeding in the long run teaches nothing but the shape of the spoon.

This is so true. In a world where we are all competing for the same result. We all want status, we all want power- but with power comes responsibilities. So if you aren't up to stepping to the plate, don't get mad at someone for getting a home run.

I am now seeing in all social circles in my life that I am dealing with two year olds. They all want the praise and respect but really do nothing to earn it. I have decided that I am now going to turn my bullshit tolerance off and just call it like I see. Like I use to, but in today's age calling someone out for acting like a child is frowned upon- not it my book.

If you are going to act like an idiot and belittle someone in front of others to make yourself feel good, I'll do the same back. Deal with it. Confrontation isn't something that is foreign to me. You might have a higher position than me on the ladder, but really that doesn't mean a thing. If you're being a prick, (regardless of what ever level you're on) I'll tell you that you're being a prick. Deal with it. Don't like it? Don't be a prick. Simple.

I just find it extremely amusing that there are people who in an attempt to show how mature, responsible and capable they are at performing tasks stoop to the lowest level to prove their point and in reality they have no idea how to do anything.

So they form 'cliques' and alliences in a bid to protect themselves. Obviously they are unaware that isolation is dangerous. It leaves you vulnerable. You don't know what your enemies are saying, or your friends. Even if you are the leader of something, there is always someone waiting for you to fall. Wishing for your downfall- and usually this is your friends that are doing it.

I guess what I am trying to say is, just because you don't like someone/something doesn't mean that others all feel the same about it. Just because you found a few people that share your views doesn't mean that you are safe from other people. Those in your circles may tell you what you want to hear. Stroke your ego. Feed you things that you want to hear. But behind your back they're conspiring to take you down and raise themselves up.

I love people that make things seem like I am back in high school- Thinking they are the cool kids just because they put down those that do what their there to do. Belittling someone, especially in front of a group of people says far more about the person doing the belittling that it ever will about the person they are victimizing.

If you put others down just so then you can feel like you're worth something, you're obviously not worth shit. The fact is after awhile those that you thought you had in your power and under your spell will actually wake up and realize you are acting like nothing more than a petty high schooler.

I do BlogTV now...sometimes.

Okay, so for some reason I decided to activate a "Blog TV" account...

...I know, freakin' exciting right? I am still trying to get use to the thing [I'm pretty slooooow.]

I don't even know when I'll be doing scheduled shows or what they'll even be about but I'm sure I'll just wing it and it will all turn out in to pure comedic gold [ either that or I'll crash and burn whilst looking like a jerk off in the process of it all.]

Most likely the format will just be me talking shit that seems amusing at the time but then when you think about it just wasted your bandwidth downloads. I'll either be hosting the show by myself or with a co-host.

Should be interesting. I'll let you guys know when I'll be doing a BlogTV live. Not here but I'll most likely inform you on my twitter or on my youtube channel so keep your eyes peeled and your expectations low.

If you have a blog TV account then come and be my friend
www.blogtv.com/people/onlyjeremy so then that way you will know when I am live and all that kind of thing. I might even have special guests such as characters that have appeared on my channels- Who knows? Because I sure don't.

No sleep club.

I've always found it difficult to sleep during the night. I'm much more of a night person than I am a day person.

But lately in my bids to fall asleep so I can wake up before the sun comes up, I have been letting the movie "Fight Club" play in the background until I fall asleep.

It's kind of ironic in a way. A movie where the protagonist suffers from insomnia and can't get to sleep at night unless he attends support groups and cries. Although there are no tears from me- this DVD is my support group. A few months back I had the same need to have it play softly in the background as I drift into a deep sleep. I thought it was just some kind of phase, some temporary restlessness that was preventing me from sleeping- But now it is back.

If you haven't seen the movie, please do not mistake this blog as badmouthing it and saying it's great to help you fall asleep. It is an excellently written movie and the acting is great. The much under rated Edward Norton teamed up with Brad Pitt to deliver something that lies deep beneath our self-consciousness. Doesn't have to be exactly the same in the movie, but deep within us, embedded deeply beyond our strong points, our confidence lays a need. That need being the sense to belong.

Seriously if you haven't seen "Fight Club" I strongly suggest you go and watch it.
